R&D configurations — reduced safety factor

Catalog ratings use a burst safety factor of 3.0 (burst = 3 × working pressure). For R&D, space and qualification-by-project programs, the same structure can be operated at a customer-selected safety factor: the burst pressure of 750 bar is fixed by the structure, and the working pressure is derived as WP = burst ÷ SF. Derived ratings are engineering references — CE/π certification applies at SF 3.0 only.

Any factor from 1.5 to 10 can be configured in the catalog R&D view — quotes carry the -SF suffix automatically.

Frequently asked questions

What gases can the CNG-080 be used with?
Breathing air, nitrogen and other industrial gases — specify the gas medium when ordering.
How much lighter is the CNG-080 than a steel cylinder?
At 20.4 kg the CNG-080 weighs roughly a third of an equivalent steel cylinder of the same water capacity.
What is the service life of the CNG-080?
20 yr, tested per ISO 11439 / ECE R110.
Can the CNG-080 be ordered at a lower safety factor than 3.0?
Yes. Catalog ratings use a burst safety factor of 3.0; for R&D and qualification-by-project programs the same structure is quoted at customer-selected safety factors (e.g. SF 2.5, SF 2.25, SF 2.0) with the working pressure derived as burst ÷ SF — ordered as CNG-080-SF2.5 and so on. Derived ratings are engineering configurations, not certified ratings.
