HDRX-005-H2 — 0.5 L hydrogen composite cylinder, 350 bar

CEH2DEV

In development — technical inquiry welcome

The HDRX-005-H2 is a 0.5 L Type IV composite hydrogen cylinder rated at 350 bar (5000 psi) built on the MEYER sealed liner — no measurable hydrogen permeation, verified by helium leak detection. It stores approximately 12 g of hydrogen at 350 bar / 15 °C in a 0.42 kg cylinder (2.7% gravimetric efficiency). Designed for fuel-cell UAS and weight-critical hydrogen systems; full-composite construction with no metal-fatigue cap on cycle life.

R&D configurations — reduced safety factor

Catalog ratings use a burst safety factor of 3.0 (burst = 3 × working pressure). For R&D, space and qualification-by-project programs, the same structure can be operated at a customer-selected safety factor: the burst pressure of 1050 bar is fixed by the structure, and the working pressure is derived as WP = burst ÷ SF. Derived ratings are engineering references — CE/π certification applies at SF 3.0 only.

Frequently asked questions

How much hydrogen does the HDRX-005-H2 store?
Approximately 12 g of hydrogen at 350 bar working pressure and 15 °C, a gravimetric efficiency of 2.7%.
Does the HDRX-005-H2 lose hydrogen through the liner?
No measurable hydrogen permeation was found in qualification, verified by helium leak detection — the MEYER sealed liner closes the permeation path that standard polymer liners have.
What certification does the HDRX-005-H2 carry?
Hydrogen models are CE marked (this model is in development — certification on completion of qualification). Burst pressure is 3× working pressure.
Can the HDRX-005-H2 be ordered at a lower safety factor than 3.0?
Yes. Catalog ratings use a burst safety factor of 3.0; for R&D and qualification-by-project programs the same structure is quoted at customer-selected safety factors (e.g. SF 2.5, SF 2.25, SF 2.0) with the working pressure derived as burst ÷ SF — ordered as HDRX-005-H2-SF2.5 and so on. Derived ratings are engineering configurations, not certified ratings.
