HDRX-090-HE — 9 L helium composite cylinder, 350 bar

πCEISOHEDEV

In development — technical inquiry welcome

The HDRX-090-HE is a 9 L Type IV composite helium cylinder rated at 350 bar (5000 psi) built on the MEYER sealed liner — no measurable helium permeation, verified by helium leak detection. Helium is the industry's most escape-prone gas; the sealed liner keeps it stored in a full-composite cylinder of just 3.8 kg, for satellite pressurant systems, tracer-gas rigs, lighter-than-air platforms and research.

R&D configurations — reduced safety factor

Catalog ratings use a burst safety factor of 3.0 (burst = 3 × working pressure). For R&D, space and qualification-by-project programs, the same structure can be operated at a customer-selected safety factor: the burst pressure of 1050 bar is fixed by the structure, and the working pressure is derived as WP = burst ÷ SF. Derived ratings are engineering references — CE/π certification applies at SF 3.0 only.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the HDRX-090-HE hold helium?
Qualification testing found no measurable helium permeation, verified by helium leak detection. Unlike standard polymer-lined composite cylinders, stored helium stays stored.
Why use a composite cylinder for helium instead of steel?
The HDRX-090-HE weighs 3.8 kg — typically a third of the equivalent metal cylinder — with the same gas-tightness, thanks to the MEYER sealed liner.
What approvals do MEYER helium cylinders carry?
Helium models carry π (TPED), CE and ISO 11119-3 approvals; the 6.8 L and 40 L sizes are certified, remaining sizes are completing qualification.
Can the HDRX-090-HE be ordered at a lower safety factor than 3.0?
Yes. Catalog ratings use a burst safety factor of 3.0; for R&D and qualification-by-project programs the same structure is quoted at customer-selected safety factors (e.g. SF 2.5, SF 2.25, SF 2.0) with the working pressure derived as burst ÷ SF — ordered as HDRX-090-HE-SF2.5 and so on. Derived ratings are engineering configurations, not certified ratings.
